Designed for empty nesters entering a new chapter, this renovation of a Spanish Revival–inspired home with Texas Hill Country notes transforms a 2012 residence into a calm, nature-forward retreat. While the home’s Mediterranean-influenced architecture provided strong bones, the interiors were thoughtfully refined to feel lighter, more flexible, and better suited for long-term living.

Rather than replacing what already held meaning, the design centered on preserving and reworking the homeowners’ existing art, furnishings, and collected pieces. Beloved items were refinished, recovered, and recontextualized, allowing history and sentiment to remain integral to the refreshed interiors. Layered lighting, expressive textiles, playful fixtures, and moments of whimsy soften formality and bring warmth and personality throughout the home.

Flexible, multi-use spaces support daily life and visiting family, while selective renovations—particularly in kitchens and bathrooms—balance thoughtful updates with preservation. The result is a character-rich, deeply personal interior design project that honors the past while supporting aging in place with beauty, ease, and longevity.
