Austin Interiors with Soul

Residential Interiors Rooted in Craft, Character & the Way You Live

Founded in Austin in 2013, Scheer & Co. is a full-service luxury interior design firm creating thoughtful, highly personal homes in Austin and beyond.

Our work spans interior architecture, renovations and new construction, furnishings, custom millwork, lighting, and construction administration. But the work itself begins somewhere more personal: with how you live, what you love, what you've collected, and how you want your home to feel.

We don't subscribe to a signature look. Instead, we create interiors that feel distinctly their own—layered with history and personality, grounded in craftsmanship, and designed for real life.

Interior Design, From the Inside Out

We believe the best interiors are considered as a whole.

That means thinking about the architecture and the decoration in the same breath: how you move through a room, where the light falls, what you see from one space into the next, where the books go, how a cabinet opens, and which chair everyone will inevitably fight over.

For renovations and new construction, we collaborate with clients, architects, builders, fabricators, and craftspeople from the earliest stages of a project. We consider space planning, architectural details, materials, lighting, plumbing, custom millwork, furnishings, art, and objects as interconnected layers rather than separate decisions.

It's an approach that allows the practical and the beautiful to inform one another from the beginning.

Designing Homes in Austin

Austin has never been particularly interested in doing things one way. Neither are we.

The city's homes span decades, architectural styles, landscapes, and ways of living—from houses with histories worth preserving to ground-up residences still waiting to develop one.

We begin by paying attention.

In an existing home, that might mean uncovering what's working, preserving the quirks worth keeping, and reconsidering what no longer makes sense. In new construction, it means thinking about the interior experience early enough that architecture, materials, lighting, and furnishings can develop together.

Either way, we're less interested in making a house look newly designed than in making it feel like it could only belong to the people who live there.

Interior Architecture,
Renovation & New Construction

Our involvement often begins long before the furniture arrives.

We develop floor plans, elevations, architectural details, cabinetry and custom millwork; select materials, finishes, plumbing, and lighting; and work alongside the larger project team as drawings become built spaces.

We think about proportion and circulation, but also about the moments that are harder to quantify: how one room reveals another, where morning light lands, whether a kitchen invites people to stay, and how materials will look after years of being lived with.

For renovations, we approach existing architecture with curiosity rather than an automatic impulse to erase it. What can be kept? What deserves another life? What can be changed to make the house work better without losing the character that made it interesting in the first place?

For new construction, early collaboration gives us the opportunity to build that character in from the beginning.

Furnishings That Tell a Story

A home becomes interesting when everything doesn't come from the same place—or the same decade.

We mix contemporary furniture with antiques, custom pieces with objects found along the way, quiet materials with moments of color, pattern, or something a little unexpected.

Furniture, lighting, rugs, textiles, window treatments, art, and objects are selected not simply because they work together, but because they have something to say individually.

The goal isn't a perfectly coordinated room.

It's a room with a point of view.

Custom Millwork & The Details That Matter

Some of the most meaningful parts of a home begin with a very practical question.

Where should this go?

A collection of books. A record player. The good glasses. A television we'd rather not look at. The things you use every morning and the things you bring out twice a year.

Our custom millwork grows from those questions. Kitchens, libraries, bars, dressing rooms, built-ins, cabinetry, and one-off architectural elements are designed around both the room and the rituals that happen within it.

Character comes first. Function follows closely behind.

A Home That Feels Like Yours

We believe good design can change the way everyday life feels.

Not because everything is perfect, precious, or painstakingly matched, but because the home works. The rooms have rhythm. The materials feel good. The things you love have a place. There are details you notice immediately and others you discover over time.

That's what we're after: homes with history, personality, and a little tension. Homes that can evolve rather than date. Homes that tell your story instead of ours.
